AI voice analysis app detects COVID more accurately than RATs
It appears more and more likely that the COVID pandemic will continue into its fourth year as a new mobile app can detect it just by asking. Pandemic plans depend on timely and accurate diagnosis of the deadly virus to curb outbreaks and minimise illness and death.
The artcial intelligence-driven technology developed by international researchers aims to reduce the cost, time, and inaccuracy of PCR or rapid antigen tests, bringing equity to the world’s poorest regions.
Researchers developed the AI model based on COVID-19 Sounds App data gathered from over 4000 healthy people and about 300 people who tested positive.
COVID-19 infections of the upper respiratory tract and vocal cords usually cause voice changes.
